Dark Humour is an Excuse for Racism, Sexism, Homophobia and Transphobia

Tw: Tik tokers who aren’t funny

Before all of the people with no real sense of humour call me a “snowflake”, hear me out. Dark humour has been around for years now, and before it was actually funny. But recently, some Tik Tok users decided that they know what dark humour is, and have made really offensive videos that are racist, sexist, homophobic and transphobic. They gaslight people who tell them it's wrong and try to pass off their hatred as “jokes”. News flash, jokes are supposed to be FUNNY. Tik Tok already has trash creators, but at least they’re still young. These “so-called dark comedians” are in their 30s. If you’ve seen Kurtis Conner’s latest video, you know this post is specifically targeting @nickfosteroffical and @spoonerdude. 2 grown men who have a lot of time on their hands, time they use to make offensive statements and body shame teenage girls.

Jokes with no Punch Line

The google definition of a joke is a thing that someone says to cause amusement or laughter, especially a story with a funny punchline. Meaning in order for something to be a joke, it has to be FUNNY and have a PUNCHLINE. Nick Foster and the other one severely lack the ability to be funny. If you can’t make a “joke” without being hateful to a group of people, then you simply aren’t funny. Brandon Rogers and Filthy Frank are actually good at making people laugh through dark humour. That’s because they can actually make a joke, they don’t specifically target a group of people and HATE them, and their content isn’t solely based on offensive jokes. Since they actually have the capability of making people laugh, they joke about other things, make their own characters and even make jokes about themselves. Dark humour is done right when someone is able to use their OWN trauma and other life experiences and turn it into a joke in order to make light of the situation. I emphasise the PUNCHLINE part of a joke, because if you watch any of Nick Foster or Spooner Dude’s tik toks, your blood might start boiling from anger and also the fact that they just aren’t funny at all.

Grown Men Body Shaming Teenagers

If you thought that their lack of creativity was the worst part of their videos, think again. Not only do these two incels say horrible things about different groups of people, they also target teenagers who are half of their age. They make fun of their weight, skin, hair, etc. All in the name of a “joke”. Even if you think that they’re just “joking”, take one second to look at the comments on their videos. They are promoting hate speech, and their audience is encouraged to do it as well. They see their videos and think it’s okay to be hateful to someone and call it a joke to get away with it.

“Women Aren’t Funny”

Of course, every unfunny guy on the planet is not complete without the overused line “women aren’t funny”. Ironically, the guys who say this line have no comedic cell in their body! These two 40 year white men constantly say horrible things about r*pe, sexual assault and are overall VERY misognyistic. It’s not dark humour to joke about sexual assault to women, when you haven’t experienced it before. It is NOT your trauma to try and joke about. I thought that in 2020, these types of guys would realize that being misogynistic isn’t funny. Silly me, I forgot that these two middle aged men with a lot of free time actually peaked in highschool, and are desperately trying to relate to young teens in order to stay relevant. How embarrassing!

To conclude, if you like dark humour, laugh at people who are good at it. Enjoy dark humour when it’s done right. Don’t support these unfunny, ignorant incels who don’t know anything about comedy. If you happen to enjoy their content, you are definitely missing out on REAL COMEDY.
